One of the greatest things about this show was that the The Melvins got straight to the point, there weren't any opening bands, instead they played 2 sets. By the time we got inside at 8:30PM there was already a line formed in front of the barrier and it was rapidly growing by the minute.
The Melvins made an entrance that was so seamless that you barely noticed they were getting on-stage. The amps began to blast the sound of "Rawhide" which conveniently played right after the Meridian's back music ended giving the appearance that it was just another song. They began with a cover of Alice Cooper's "Ballad Of Dwight Fry", and immediately people were jumping, screaming, and head banging. That was only with King Buzzo and Dale Crover on the stage, the show really began about halfway through the set when Jared and Coady joined in. The mirror-image effect was amazing, it wasn't always limited to the drumming either. King Buzzo and Jared Warren moved in unison with each other at points although it seemed unintentional. They ended the first set on "Des Area" and quickly announced "We'll be back in just a few minutes".
15 minutes later, The Melvins came back to the stage and picked up where they left off with "Des Area". This set also included a cover of Devo's "Mr. DNA" which was definitely one of the highlights of the show. One of the most noticeable things about the show was that they never really stopped playing, even when they would talk to the audience they would still be playing in the background. It was almost like one(technically 2) big jam, either way it was fun and it kept the audience in a constant frenzy. They ended on a massive sing-a-long where everyone stood up on top of a drum or an amp(except for Buzzo who was the only one still playing an instrument) and proudly shouted the words.
Well, That's it! Go check out the pictures!
