For those of you that have never been to a Rad Rich show this is how it works. Every year Rad Rich puts on a concert in late August. There's 2 stages(usually it's at Meridian too). Lot's of different bands play and there are lot's of raffle, and give-aways Not all the bands there were Punk but quite a few were. I'm going to review the bands that were atleast close to Punk plus a few Rock-A-Billy bands. And please ignore what the flyer says. Bark Hard didn't show up... Again... Oh well.

This was a fun show. There were lot's of bands, raffles, giveaways(including a table of free CD's). If anything the crowd was low energy... I blame the heat...

The Unzipped were the first to play on the Mango's stage. They had a Psychobilly sound that crowd loved(apparently it was good enough for a channel 39 camera man too).

Zipperneck had one of the most powerful female singers I've ever seen. They had a powerful Rock/Punk mix sound that was well received by the audience. Their songs were well structured, each part complemented the other. Some people even remarked that they sounded especially good in the out door venue.

The Bad Ones had a melodic scream-a-long Punk style. Now, normally a set like that would be a lot of fun but unfortunately no one started a pit no one was up-front shouting the words, instead everyone stood back from the stage hovering in the shade or near chairs... Again I blame the heat. They still played great none the less.

The American Shark had a lot of energy to them, and it was even more fun because they played off the stage. They came out wearing plastic neon sunglasses(which slowly fell off or got tossed aside), and they jumped, shouted and rocked their way through a fast set.

Delta Block put on an aggressive fast show. They too played off stage and it definitely added to the intensity. They played fiercely and their equipment took a lot of abuse. There was a cut out of a cymbal, the amps were seasonably worn(but that's normal) the guitarist used what appeared to be a metal bar as a slide, and later he threw the guitar at his amp bringing the set to it's end.

Mass of Man went on as the daylight slowly began to fade. They played really tight and even despite some amp problems they did a great show. Their set included a cover of Black Flag's "Six Pack" featuring guest vocals by the singers for The Unzipped and The Dolly Rockers.

Luxurious Panthers had a classic Rock-A-Billy sound that finally got the crowd over to the stage(after a bit of prodding from the singer of the Oklahomos). They put a lot of energy in to their set, everyone played with real soul. They also showed that a beer-can can be an effective guitar slide, adding a nice touch to a song involving beer. One of their guitarists broke a string right at the final strokes of their last song. What better way to and a set?

That's it see the pictures here!

Thanks!

That may be awhile judging by the lack of wind/gulf activity...
