Wow... Well where to begin... Imagine going to Disneyland and all the little figures singing "It's A Small World After All" are hauntingly out of tune and broken down, and they have the appearance of small disfigured monsters... Yeah, that's somewhere in the ballpark of Rudy Schwartz Project Bowling For Appliances.
Most the songs have an overly happy sound to them, almost every one filled with strange sound effects and instruments, yet they have a strange evil inflection...(Please see first description) At the same time there is an amazing range of sound to the album, with genre changes even within songs sometimes. There can be a bit of mocking country, Mariachi, Commercial Jingles, Rap, Rock, and some I just don't know what to call... Some of the music even remind of being and kid playing Sonic The Hedgehog, and other games on a Sega Genesis... Plus, there's lot's of wacky humor and topics(you can see that even in the song titles).
There is a serious side(at times) to Bowling For Appliances like "Protect And Serve", but even that has quite a bit of amusing cop bashing. Another serious plus is that beneath all the wacky humor, and at times carnival like music there really is some seriously good soulful guitar work.
Bottom Line: RSP is by far the strangest band you'll ever hear! Just do it! Buy It Now!
