The Generators - Last Of The Pariahs (DC-Jam Records)

Street Punk veterans, The Generators, released their 8th full length album not long ago. They've been steadily gaining well deserved press attention and praise from places like USA Today to small Punk Rock zines, and trading circles. Take a look! If you don't know; you don't know what you're missing.
Picture
Last Of The Pariahs shows off The Generators familiar yet unique Punk Rock craftsmanship. It features a melodic yet rough back tracking perfectly topped with intelligent and introspective lyrics about the many problems of today, whether their within(see the hit track, "You Against You"), or within society. Gritty hook laden guitar lines are frequent asset to the album, as is noticeably intense drumming. The Generators frequently make extensive use of each of their instruments; rather than mirroring each other, each guitar(including Bass) has its own addition to accent the song, which makes for a surprisingly atmospheric assault of Punk Rock fury. While not every song is a fast, blistering, soaring anthem, their more moderately paced numbers further show their skilled song writing, and manage to maintain the intense atmosphere of the album.

Certain modern day Punk bands like Pennywise or Bad Religion come to mind, when listening to The Generators, but unlike the other aforementioned bands they have a uniquely consistent element of simplistic Classic Punk present. If you like some of the modern, melodic, thought provoking Punk bands(like the one's mentioned above), you should take a look at The Last Of The Pariahs. Even if you don't like said forms of Punk, you can take solace in their ever present Old School roots.

Bottom Line: The Generators produce an unfathomably good mix of well crafted Melodic Punk Rock, and the classic grit and snarl that all Punks know and love.
