The Adicts - All The Young Droogs(DC-Jam Records)

After 35 years of securing their place as Punk Rock royalty, The Adicts have completed their landmark tenth album.

All The Young Droogs features a notably more varied sound from the band, showing trace influences from Rock, Funk, among other genres, whilst maintaining a definitively Adicts sound. While The Adicts consistent conviction to a more straight-forward Punk style has been one of their sources of praise, the slight change can come as a refreshing experience for longtime listeners. All that being said, with tracks like "Battlefield W1", and the album's main single "Horrorshow", deliver an unchanged, and time tested dose of Adicts fun. A number of the new tracks like "My Old Friend", and the title track make for great sing along material, just waiting for a chorus with a live audience.

Given the band's greater range on the album than normal, they flirt with songs slower than the normal Adicts uptempo style with songs like "Give It To Me Baby", and the last track "Loves Lies Bleeding" which features a darker sound than the rest of the album.


Bottom Line: The Adicts are still The Adicts as always, and despite a variation in tone, true hardcore fans will welcome the landmark album with open arms as a respectable break from the status quo. Of course even close minded fans will still have their fair share of enjoyment with the album too!
