"Jock": Legendary Guitarist for GBH, and Founding Member.
(Technically the Second Part of the Interview started in the Perfume And Piss Album Feature.)
Tx Punk: "What are you're thoughts on the current Music Scene?"
Jock: usually stay in the punk and reggae genres.theres some great stuff appearing all the time.so many good gigs in the uk at the moment.dont pay attention to the mainstream music world much.
Tx Punk: "What do you think of how the term "Punk" floats around on MTV(etc.)?"
Jock: i dont know.its a lot different from the punk we know and love.i just hope they have something to say!i rarely listen so im not sure.
Tx Punk: Is there one particular thing that's been influential on you're playing/performing?
Jock: well i can only speak for me but the damned, discharge, punk rock music in general is a great inspiration!!!
Jock: too many too mention, ill try send some when ive had time to think for a while!
Tx Punk: There is a note on the "Oh No It's GBH Again" page of your website where he mentioned a Reggae jam track recorded around that time, and that it was "one of the few recorded original tracks that GBH have ever kept back from release". Are there ever any plans of releasing some songs like that?
Jock: we released some previously unreleased songs on the cruel and unusual cd a few years ago.i think thats about it.apart from the new cd,out on april 6th on hellcat, haha,we,ve released everything else we,ve recorded.the reggae track only existed on a cassette from a soundcheck in japan i think.
Tx Punk: What's Your favorite Punk Album?
Jock: damned damned damned!!!
Tx Punk: What inspired the song "City Baby Attacked By Rats"?
Jock: it was a real incident.some people living in a poor part of birmingham, england, where we live, well their baby was found with evidence of rat bites and scratches all over it.it was all over the local newspaper headlines around the time we were looking for a title for our first album.wallah!
Tx Punk: What was it like being a punk band performing for MTV's concert series back in 85'?
Jock: that was strange.it was a great concert but just weird with all these professional cameramen and people around all night.i wasnt too sure about it at the time but it gave us and all the other bands on the bill a lot of exposure which isnt a bad thing neccessarily.i ended up seeing it on late night local tv in birmingham a few years later, about 3 o,clock in the morning.
Jock: i really enjoy city baby attacked by rats and revenge.we play them both together near the end of our set.the crowd are usually getting involved by then and those two just seem to tip them over the edge.great stuff.
Tx Punk: You guys have toured all over the world. Israel, Argentina, Poland and Spain to name a few. What's it like to tour in such exotic countries?
Jock: its a privilege to be honest.we,re really happy that people enjoy us just about anywhere we go.we played in santiago, chile last year, for the first time, and it was emotional, honestly.its great to be involved!
Tx Punk: Anything you want to say to the people reading this?
Jock: yeah, thanks for reading this and keep supporting your local scene.this thing has been going for over 30 years now and its the new bands that keep it alive! cheers Jock and GBH
Tx Punk: Thanks so much!
