3 top notch local Houston bands with their roots heavily in Punk's past join together to celebrate Bill's(of Chelsea Hotel, The Pagans, etc.) birthday!
Chelsea Hotel ripped through a set of ranging from their own hits, to classic NY style Punk covers. They played especially tight yet raw that night, which made for a spectacular set when coupled with the amazing PA sound. Given the fact that it was the first night for their new rhythm guitarist, saying it's the best set I've seen from them is an especially respectable accomplishment. Highlights of the set included "Austin", "TCBY", "Stop Breakin' My Balls"(which featured Ralph of Dead Roses on impromptu saxophone), along with covers of the Pagans like "Street Where Nobody Lives", and "What's This Sh*t Called Love", and other punk classics like Iggy Pop's "I Got A Right" among others.

Generation Landslide played a unique set of music more on the experimental side. Encompassing influences from Rock, Folk, 60's pop(as seen in a cover of the Monkees "Porpoise Song"), Psychedelic, and of course some elements of punk. Their sound ranged between a more atmospheric, delay soaked, numbers to more straight forward songs drawing from classic Rock 'n' Roll elements. Despite some the last minute substitution of their drummer they played a powerful set, which was helped by the powerful voice of their front-woman.

Dead Roses excitedly took the stage in their fur coats and eyeliner adorned faces. Their sound was a very unique take on Punk Rock featuring the classic elements catchy, riff filled 70's Punk,(including rough yet intelligible vocals!) along with a raw, distorted, Garage Rock-esque sound. Even the Bass was distorted and dirty sounding, which is an unfortunately uncommon feat in Punk! They played through their set in that perfect way; tight enough to feel like a sharpened blade yet raw enough to enjoy the intense, biting musical assault.
By the end of the night each band had more than proved their worthy place in the Houston scene with amazing quality sets, that are often only found by being a veteran from years of Live shows.
